If you're a fan of all things spooky and paranormal, you may want to consider going on a "ghost hunt" this spring or summer!

The organization Ghost Hunts USA helps people become paranormal investigators for a night with overnight stays at some of the most haunted places in America. On their list of upcoming events, there are actually three different locations in Iowa that you can check out!

Let's start with the Vincent House in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Built in 1872 by James Swain, the Vincent House is the oldest structure left in the community. It has a long, rich history, and can still be rented out for events today. According to the Friends of Vincent House website, at one point, the family became part of the spiritualist movement and "held séances in the third floor room, which is considered the ballroom." That may contribute to the belief that Vincent House is haunted. The Ghost Hunts USA website reads:

"Activity at this intensely active location includes apparitions, lights turning on by themselves, objects moving, unexplained footsteps, music playing, knocking, giggling, and disembodied voices."

There are two overnight ghost hunts scheduled for Vincent House in Fort Dodge this summer. One is set for Friday, June 10th and the other is Saturday, June 11th. You can book your reservation HERE.

Next up is Squirrel Cage Jail in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The unique structure was built in 1885 and was in use as a prison until 1969. Four deaths were reported on the property, but that's not the only reason that the space may be haunted. According to the Historical Society of Pottawattamie County website:

"If the deaths aren’t enough to justify a haunting, some point to the fact that the building is on the site of the old St. Paul's Episcopal Church morgue. Additionally, though actual prisoner deaths were few, the cold, damp, dark, tiny pie-shaped cells were likely a very depressing place to spend time. That in itself may be worthy of a ghost or two."

It's also worth noting that the jail was also the home of a prolific serial killer named Jake Bird.

There are currently six overnight stays at Squirrel Cage Jail on the Ghost Hunts USA website: two in April, two in July, one in September, and one in October. You can get more information on those HERE.

Last but not least, there's Malvern Manor in Malvern, Iowa. Built in the 1880s, the Des Moines Register says that the building was originally known as the Cottage Hotel, but it was also a nursing home and a group home over the years. Malvern Manor was actually featured on the TLC show "Paranormal Lockdown" back in 2017. The Ghost Hunts USA website reads:

"This locations sinister energy calls out to investigators and paranormal programs to seek the truth for the patients that suffered neglect and abuse in life."

If you want to take part in one of the Malvern Manor overnight tours, there are two dates in June, two in September, and two in October. You can reserve your spot HERE.
