Eastern and Central Iowa are home to a bunch of cool haunted houses and attractions, but did you know there's also a haunted trolley?

Thanks to a new article from Only in Your State, we have some details on Midwest Haunted Rails, "Southeast Iowa's family-friendly Halloween event." The attraction is located at McMillan Park on South Walnut Street in Mount Pleasant, in partnership with the Midwest Old Threshers and Midwest Central Railroad. It's been in operation since 1998!

Not only does Midwest Haunted Rails have 'The Ghostly Trolley' on the grounds, but they also have the 'Ghost Train of No Return,' a haunted carousel, games, food, and a haunted house! You can check out the map from 2021 below:

Midwest Haunted Rails will run October 14th & 15th, 21st & 22nd, and 28th & 29th from 6 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and 6 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The last tickets of the night will be sold 30 minutes ahead of closing. The $15 ticket includes unlimited rides on the Ghost Train of No Return, the Ghostly Trolley, the haunted carousel, and other ground activities. Kids age four and under are admitted for free. Additional features, like food, games, and Thrashers House of Terror, are NOT included in the $15 ticket.

Thrashers House of Terror, the on-site haunted house, is a lot less family-friendly than the Midwest Haunted Rails. Kids under the age of 14 are required to be accompanied by an adult. The website reads:

"You will experience special effect lighting, intense audio, automation, extreme low visibility, strobe lights, smoke machines, damp or wet conditions, trained performers specifically designed to scare you, and physically demanding environments."

Thrashers is open Thursdays through Saturdays in October beginning October 6th. Thursday's hours are 6:30 to 10 p.m. and Friday & Saturday's are 6 p.m. to midnight. General admission tickets are $10 and the last tickets of the night are sold at closing.
