
Memorial Day Fire Damages Evansdale Home
A Memorial Day fire damaged a two-story house in Evansdale, displacing a woman and her son.
The fire broke out around 12:30 PM at 3305 Lafayette Road near the downtown business district.
According to Evansdale Fire Chief Ryan Phillips, the entire home was filled with smoke when firefighters arrived. They entered the structure and found flames in the basement.
According to Phillips, the woman and her son weren’t home when the fire started. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters from Gilbertville and Raymond assisted at the scene with mutual aid.
