Authorities Searching For Missing Inmate

Authorities are looking for an inmate who failed to return from a work release assignment.

According to a press release, 45-year-old Maurice Turner failed to report back to the Marshalltown Residential Facility Saturday night. Turner is now considered an escapee, Iowa Department of Corrections officials said.

Turner is described as a black man. He's about 5'7" and weighs around 262 pounds.

Court records show that Turner was convicted of third-or subsequent-offense domestic abuse assault and other crimes in Marshall County. He was admitted to the work release facility on Oct. 21, 2019.

Documents also show that Turner failed to report back from a work release assignment in November of 2019, about one month after he was admitted to the same facility.
