A two-vehicle accident in central Iowa claimed the life of a Marshalltown man.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 23-year-old Lino Rivera-Reyes died in a crash involving his sport utility vehicle and a semi on Iowa Highway 14 north of Knoxville. Authorities said Rivera-Reyes’ SUV crossed the center line and collided with the semi, driven by 62-year-old James McElvain of Corydon.
Marion County sheriff’s officials said Rivera-Reyes was trapped in his SUV and died at the scene.
The crash happened Tuesday around 5:30 AM on the Mile-Long Bridge that crosses Lake Red Rock between Monroe and Knoxville. The accident remains under investigation.
It was the third fatal wreck involving a Marshalltown man within a 12-hour period. The other two men died Monday in separate crashes three hours apart near Marshalltown.
The Iowa State Patrol said 72-year-old Terry Stubbs was killed when he lost of control of his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 30.
Authorities also reported that 59-year-old John St. Clair died when he failed to negotiate a curve on a gravel road in rural Marshall County. The pickup truck he was driving rolled several times, and came to rest on its top in a farm field.
