Want to put down roots in a different city in Iowa and earn some extra cash?
Technically you'll need to buy a house there too, but this is a pretty sweet incentive.
City leaders in Marshalltown, Iowa say they'll pay you to move there and buy a new home. The Chamber of Commerce in Marshalltown is calling the incentive the 'Make Marshalltown Home' program.
According to KCCI in Des Moines, if you take the deal you'll get $10,000 to buy a newly built home in the city if the home has a construction value of at least $180,000.
The incentive starts on July 1.
Marshalltown is only 150 miles west of the Quad Cities, so you're not very far from friends and family if you choose to move there. The city has a population of about 27,000 and according to their Wikipedia page, they have an abundance of parks and trails.
I think the town must have a good sense of humor too because one of the FAQs on the city webpage addresses the question, "Can horses eat fire hydrants?" to which the reply is, 'Absolutely not. I would fear the horse that could." You have to love a city who doesn't take itself too seriously.
