A Buchanan County man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, for allegedly giving and receiving sexually explicit pictures from minors, using internet social sites.

Gregory German, 38, of Lamont, received the sentence on Tuesday. German had pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor in February.

Authorities from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation/Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, received a cyber tip from Facebook about German in 2015. The tip indicated that German appeared to be using the internet to entice a child for sexual acts. German had requested and received 15 pornographic images of the young girl.

Authorities issued a search warrant served on Facebook, which indicated German asked the child her age, and she responded that she was 14. He then solicited the explicit photos.

The Iowa DCI and Buchanan County sheriff officials executed a search warrant at German's Lamont home in August of 2015. They confiscated all of his electronic devices. According to court documents, German admitted to soliciting 10 to 15 girls under the age of 16 through Facebook, for sexually explicit photos.

German also sent some of the girls pictures of his genitals. He was arrested and charged in November of 2017.

As part of his sentence, German will be placed on Iowa's sex offender registry. He will also remain under supervision for the rest of his life.
