Ace Ventura 3 is officially in the works. The production company behind the first two original Ace Ventura films, Morgan Creek, announced on parkcircus.com that they were developing a third installment with Amazon:

"We’re pretty excited about our franchise developments with 'Exorcist' and the 'Ace Ventura' franchise - its noticeable from the 3 million fans chatting on the official Facebook page for Ace Ventura that audiences are clamoring for a third installment… During COVID, audiences have been in love and are thrilled to have beloved characters brought back with new stories.


Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has already begun filming, meaning Ace Ventura 3 could possibly be Jim Carrey’s next project after Sonic 2 ---- However, Carrey has yet to confirm if he is coming back for the third film.

Ace Ventura 3 does not have an official release date.

The original movie was released in 1994 and is credited with launching Carrey into stardom. He played a private detective named Ace Ventura who specialized in tracking down animals. The flick featured Courtney Cox and Hall-of-Fame Quarterback Dan Marino even had a cameo.

The movie had a budget of $15 and raked in over $12 million on its opening weekend, debuting at #1. It held the top spot for a total of four weeks and was the 16th highest-grossing movie in the US in 1994, making a total of over $70 million at the box office in the states.

Less than two years later, a sequel, “Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls” hit theatres, also debuting at #1, and made a total of $103 million at the US box office.  It was the fifth highest-grossing movie in the US in 1995.
