Waterloo Community School District officials have altered the start time for tonight's basketball doubleheader between East and West High Schools.

The girls' game, originally scheduled to begin at 6 PM, will now tip off at 4 PM on Wier-McGraw Court inside East's Fred J. Miller Gymnasium. The boys' game will start no more than 25 minutes after the girls' game is completed.

District officials decided to move the doubleheader ahead two hours in an attempt to avoid an approaching winter storm, which is expected to dump 4" to 8" inches of snow on the Cedar Valley. A winter storm warning is posted for most of Iowa until 10 AM Saturday.

In order to reduce congestion, fans attending tonight's game are being asked to use separate doors to enter the gym. West fans should use the Main Entrance (Door 1) off Vine Street. East fans should use the Athletic Entrance (Door 8) off South Barclay Street.

Doors are scheduled to open at 3:15 PM. They will be closed at 6:30 PM, and no one will be admitted into the game after that.

The general public may purchase tickets at the door. Adult tickets cost $5.

Students planning to attend had to buy their tickets in advance.
