Oktoberfest is back in 2021!

After a fall with next to no fun events in 2020, we are happy to report that Oktoberfest celebrations are popping back up here in Iowa beginning next month! We put together a list of some of the big local events, just in case you want to add them to your calendar: PROST!

Adventureland Oktoberfest

  • Happening Saturday, September 25th from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Adventureland in Altoona
  • Event is for ages 21 and older ONLY
  • Featuring live music and entertainment, unique food, games, and rides (select rides are open until 8 p.m.)
  • Tickets are $50 through August 31st -  Gold & Platinum Season Pass Holders get free entry
  • NO REFUNDS

Northside Oktoberfest

  • Happening Saturday, October 2nd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Northside Marketplace in Iowa City
  • Ticket includes unlimited samplings from over 40 vendors, a Northside Oktoberfest 2021 chalice glass, $5 for Lunch at Northside vendors, a 25th Anniversary Iowa City Brewfest shirt, and a free first beer at the Northside Oktoberfest outdoor Bier Hall
  • The event is open for anyone to walk through, but only people with a ticket and BrewFest glass can participate in the sampling
  • Tickets are SOLD OUT, but you can be added to the waitlist (more information HERE)
  • General Admission can visit the outdoor Bier Hall on North Linn St from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Amana Colonies Oktoberfest

  • Happening Friday, October 1st through Sunday, October 3rd in the Amana Colonies
  • Featuring beer, live music, games, German food, a brat-eating competition, a parade, and more
  • Admission is $10 for a one-day pass and $15 for a two-day pass - if you purchase tickets in advance, they are $8 for one day and $12 for two days (Sunday is FREE)
  • Tickets are non-refundable

Ottumwa Oktoberfest

  • Happening Thursday, September 29th through Saturday, October 2nd in Ottumwa
  • Featuring a parade, live music, beer, food, competitions, and more

Oktoberfest Des Moines

  • Happening Friday, September 24th and Saturday, September 25th from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Court District in downtown Des Moines
  • Featuring beer, German food, live music, bier maiden and stein holding competitions, a silent disco, and more
  • Prizes are awarded to guests in traditional German attire
  • Ages 21 and over only after 9 p.m.
  • Tickets include an Oktoberfest pint glass and drink ticket
  • Single day tickets are $12.50 advance, $15 day of - if you purchase a single day ticket in advance, show your pint glass upon entry on Saturday to get in for $10

Dubuque Oktoberfest

  • Happening Saturday, September 18th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Q Casino Back Waters Stage in Dubuque
  • Featuring music, food, drinks, entertainment, wiener dog races, and games
  • All ages are welcome
  • Admission is free with a suggested donation to Camp Albrecht Acres
