Iowans are not patient people. Either that, or we're just looking to extend a good time. There's about a 99.9 percent chance that the latter is more true.

Once upon a time, Oktoberfest celebrations pretty much took place in October. That's not the case anymore. I know, you're crushed. More German beer fun has been announced for the next couple of months.

Water Works Park (2201 George Flagg Parkway) in Des Moines will be the site of a pop-up beer garden with a German theme throughout September and October. According to KCCI, the Des Moines Biergarten will open on September 1 and be open each Thursday through Sunday, through October 30.

In addition to all the brewskis, the Biergarten will feature live music and games and will serve some items that go perfectly with beer. For instance, pretzels.

While you're in the Des Moines area, you should also check out Hessen Haus. Located at 101 4th St., they claim to have "the largest selection of German draught biers in the world!"

There are Oktoberfest celebrations planned throughout Iowa over the next couple of months, including in Amana and Marion. You can see a list, complete with links to more information, here.

Cheers! Enjoy the festivities and please don't drink and drive.
