Show Us Your Snowman [Photos]
It's winter time in Iowa, and we just made it through the 2nd snowiest January of all time, with another 2-4 inches of the white stuff on the way Thursday followed by frigid cold temperatures. You've probably heard the saying, "when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade". I have a new saying that I just made up, "when life gives you snow, you make a snowman".
A few weeks ago, we told you about a family in central Iowa that made headlines for making a giant snowman in their front yard. Karen Batchelor Peters from Ankeny posted photos on her Facebook page showing a giant 15-foot tall snowman that her family built.
Building a snowman is one of the top 12 fun outside winter activities to do in Iowa. This past weekend, the weather was pretty good for doing just that. We want to see your photos of your snow creations. It can be a snowman, snow fort, snow "penguin" (scroll down for photos) or maybe even a photo of your kids making snow angels.
Daytime high temperatures are forecasted in the mid to upper 30''s for Wednesday and Thursday this week, which might make for good snowman-making weather, but by Friday, we'll have daytime highs in the mid-teens and by this weekend highs will only be in the single digits, that's cold enough to give even a snowman frostbite!
Now it's time put a magic hat on top of your snowman and hope he comes alive and says Happy Birthday just like Frosty. Most people around the Cedar Valley and northeast Iowa don't have the luxury of a magic hat, but they do have a lot of creativity, that is showcased in our photo gallery below. (scroll down)
If you have a photo of your snowman/snow creation you would like to share, go to this station's Facebook page and message us, or look for the corresponding post and upload it there.
