Have you ever found yourself hopelessly searching your TV for a live broadcast of Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Basketball game, only to find blank disappointment? Chances are the game was being aired somewhere on cable TV, perhaps ESPN or FoxSports1.

The problem is not everyone has access to cable TV, or the funds to afford it.

Sports is big business and that makes broadcast rights expensive. But it's a sad reality for the little guy. You can't really follow your local teams and watch live sports anymore, unless you pay. Whether it's cable, streaming or pay per view, they've got you by the balls.

Which is what makes this February a bit special. According to Iowa's News Now, three Iowa men's basketball games in February (and one in early March) will be broadcast for free on CBS2 or Fox28.

This schedule will take Hawkeyes fans deep into the season with coverage being provided on free local TV. Score for the little guy!

  • Sunday, February 7, 11:00am, FOX28: Iowa @ Indiana
  • Saturday, February 13, 1:30pm, FOX28: Iowa @ Michigan State
  • Sunday, February 28, 3:00pm, CBS2: Iowa @ Ohio State
  • Sunday, March 7, Noon, FOX28: Wisconsin @ Iowa

Perhaps the best news here is that the team is now coming into the final weeks of a great season leading up to the Big 10 conference championships and the NCAA Final Four.

Good news that couldn't come at a better time for Hawkeye fans who are living on a budget.
