Fatal Clarksville House Fire Apparently Set By Owner

A Clarksville man, found dead in his burning home earlier this week, apparently set the fire himself.

Authorities were called to the 100 block of Baughman Street in Clarksville when a a passerby spotted the blaze coming from a house around 9 PM Monday (Dec. 3, 2018).

Heat from the flames initially prevented firefighters from entering the building. When they finally did a few hours later, firefighters found the body of 50-year-old Danny Coonley.

An autopsy will be scheduled.

According to investigators, a note was found that indicated Coonley set the fire. The home was a total loss.

Fire departments from Clarksville and Allison responded, along with Butler County sheriff officials, Butler County Emergency Management, Clarksville police and Clarksville ambulance. The investigation continues.
