A make-up date has been set for last week's high school basketball doubleheader between cross-town Waterloo rivals East and West that was postponed by a winter storm.

According to Waterloo School District officials, the games will be played Monday, Jan. 27 at West's Siddens Gymnasium. The girls game is scheduled to tip-off at 5 PM, followed by the boys game at approximately 6:30 PM.

The games were originally scheduled for Friday, Jan. 17 at West. District officials decided to postpone the doubleheader due to major travel issues caused by a storm that dumped 3.4 inches of snow on the Cedar Valley.

Earlier this season, East hosted a doubleheader against the Wahawks on Wier-McGraw Court inside Fred J. Miller Gymnasium. West swept the Dec. 3 twinbill, winning the girls game 78-29 and the boys game 78-53.

The Wahawks are ranked No. 8 in this week's Class 5A Iowa Girls High School Girls Athletic Union poll, and No. 2 in the Associated Press boys poll.

District officials said all procedures announced earlier for the doubleheader will be in place Monday night, and all previously purchased tickets will be honored. East and West students planning to attend the games must purchase tickets in advance, prior to 1 PM Monday.
