Zombie Deer Outbreak in Northeast Iowa

Well that's a nightmare.

24 different states including Iowa have been warned about a zombie deer outbreak. No deer aren't rising from the dead (and no they won't move their heads off your wall) but there is a disease going on that makes deer looks like zombies and it's very bad for people who eat these sick deer. The Center for Disease Control says that not only consumption of these animals is dangers but even being in close proximity is dangers as well.

The disease is not a new one (first diagnosed in the late 1960's) is called Chronic Wasting Disease. Deer and elk that have this disease take on a "zombie-like" state. They have odd behavior and even suffer from exposed ribs from wasting away.

There are over 10 million hunters in the United States so even if this is a common phenomena in the hunting world, it's a reminder to err on the side of caution.
