Waterloo Police Find Revolver, Cocaine During Traffic Stop
Waterloo police arrested a man and woman following a traffic stop early Friday morning (Nov. 9, 2018).
Tauren Harper, 23, was taken into custody on drug and weapons charges. Brileigh Femino, 23, was booked into the Black Hawk County Jail on traffic violations.
According to police, officers attempted to stop a vehicle for an equipment violation near W. 8th and Johnson streets around 1:45 AM. The vehicle failed to halt and led police on a slow-speed pursuit. During the chase, a passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Police said officers continued to chase the fleeing suspect and the vehicle. Eventually, the vehicle stopped and the passenger was captured.
Officials identified the vehicle's driver as Femino, who was charged with first-offense operating while intoxicated, eluding and driving with a suspended license. Harper was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver while in a possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm as a prohibited person, carrying weapons and interference of official acts while armed with a weapon.
Police said Harper was carrying a loaded .22-caliber revolver and a baggie of cocaine when they arrested him.
