Waterloo Man Charged With Robberies, Sex Assaults
Bond has been at $1.8 million for a Waterloo man arrested on charges connected to a series of local convenience store robberies, one of which allegedly involved a sexual assault.
Jamar Wise, 25, was taken into custody Tuesday morning (March 20, 2018). According to Waterloo police, officers patrolling near Yesway on San Marnan Drive observed a man acting suspicious. When they approached, the man fled. He was apprehended in the 100 block of Southbrook Dr. after a brief foot chase.
Wise was booked into the Black Hawk County jail. During a court appearance on Wednesday, a judge set his bail at $1.84 million.
According to court records, Wise is charged with committing the following crimes in Waterloo:
- 2nd-degree robbery, assault while participating in a felony, and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse at Prime Mart, 508 Broadway St. Incident occurred on Feb. 27 just before 7:30 AM.
- 1st-degree robbery and 1st-degree Sexual abuse at B and B East, 1615 Bishop Ave., reported on February 10th, 2018 at approximately at 6:28 AM.
- 2nd-degree robbery at Neighborhood Mart, 2100 Lafayette St., Waterloo. Incident occurred on Jan. 31 around 7:30 AM.
- 2nd-degree robbery at Metro Mart, 2332 Falls Ave., Waterloo. Incident occurred on Jan. 29 around 6:30 AM.
During the Feb. 10 robbery at B and B East, Wise allegedly knocked down and fondled an employee.
According to police, the robberies remain under investigation.
