Watch this 5-foot-5, 285-pound Kicker Drill a Game-Winning Field Goal
Nester “Manny” Higuera is a redshirt sophomore kicker for Arizona Christian. On Saturday, with the scored tied at 20-20, against Southwestern Assemblies of God University, he drilled a 46-yard field goal as time expired to give his team the Sooner Athletic Conference title in the NAIA. It’s their third conference championship in the last six years. (Video below)
COVID-19 delayed the start of the fall season until October, so the schedule continued through the new year and Arizona Christian went 7-1 in its first eight games and the Firestorm (one of the best team names of all-time) have the best kicker in the league.
Higuera was named the conference’s special teams’ player of the week four times, and has only missed one extra point in his two years on the collegiate level, banging in 63 of 64 PATs and is 17-24 in Field Goals his first two seasons.
Arizona Christian will head to Plainview, Texas, to close out the regular season against Wayland Baptist on April 10.
Higuera also nailed a game-winner last October:
