Vandalized Waterloo Mural Getting Repaired
A group of volunteers are stepping up to repair a vandalized art mural in downtown Waterloo that was painted by local children.
Over the weekend, vandals sprayed graffiti on the "Our Freedom Story" mural that's on a wall along the Cedar River outside the Waterloo Center For The Arts. The Youth Art Team and students from Kingsley and Lowell Elementary Schools finished their work on the mural in June 2019.
Now, following the weekend vandalism incident, the mural is in need of extensive repainting. Several people from around the community have jumped on board to help fix the artwork, officials with the Waterloo Center For The Arts (WCA) said.
The large group of volunteers are planning to get together Friday at 1 PM to repaint damaged sections of the 3000-square-foot long mural.
