UNI football's Trevor Penning and Isaiah Weston took full advantage of the opportunity they were afforded this weekend to show scouts their talent at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Penning, who is already widely regarded as one of the top players in the the 2022 NFL draft class, put up ridiculous numbers to add to the lore that has become the 6-7, 325-pound linemen from small-town Iowa.

Here are some of the numbers, along with Pennings Relative Athletic Score (which aggregates all combine/pro day measurables into a single number on a 10-point scale):

As you can see, Penning is a generational athlete at the offensive tackle position. While most casual NFL fans won't understand the significance of some of the numbers, one thing is pretty clear -- that 40-yard dash by the Clear Lake, IA native is absolutely bonkers. The measurables of his frame and size paired with a 4.89 time in the 40 is mind-blowing. His time ranked fourth among all offensive linemen at the combine.

These numbers come after already grabbing the attention of NFL scouts everywhere due to his play during the season as well as his appearance at the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Penning wasn't the only member of the UNI football squad to come out of the event with increased draft stock, though. The former Panther wide receiver Isaiah Weston is now continuing to rise up draft boards as well.

The numbers Weston put up rank among the best in the entire draft.

Weston, a native of Albertville, Minnesota, finished first in the bench press, putting up 20 reps of 225 pounds, and second in vertical jump with a 40-inch bounce and a broad jump of 11 feet and three inches. Weston came to play.

Though his 40-yard dash wasn't quite as mind-blowing as Pennings for his position, UNI's leading receiver in 2019 and 2021 showed off NFL-speed with a time of 4.39 seconds.

Weston even got the attention of another one of UNI's NFL products, Daurice Fountain:

Though Weston isn't as highly-regarded at his position as Penning is, he did put himself in rarified air with his performance this weekend, and drastically improved his draft stock.
