Starting cornerback for UNI, Stefan Black II, has entered the transfer portal as he announced via Twitter on Monday afternoon. The Kansas City, Missouri native has two years of eligibility remaining.

Black saw action in two games during the spring 2021 season but saw the majority of his snaps in the fall of 2021 and 2022.

In the 2021 fall season, Black began to earn time after then-starter and All-American Omar Brown went down with an injury. That season, he registered an interception, two PBUs, and 18 tackles. As a sophomore this year, he hauled in a pick, broke up four passes, and finished with 57 tackles including two TFLs.

Black will be seeking to join a program that plays more man-to-man defense, as opposed to the zone scheme that UNI runs.

Out of Blue Springs High School, Black received scholarship offers from North Dakota State, Air Force, South Dakota State, Army, Southern Illinois, and others as a two-star recruit. He also received interest from Kansas State, Iowa State, Northwestern, North Texas, and others.

His counterpart at the cornerback position, Woo Governor, earned Second-Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors this season.

Several other former Panthers have entered the transfer portal so far. Defensive backs Johnathan Phenix and Miguel Edwards, quarterback Matt Morrissey, wide receivers Peter Udoibok and Terrance Kamara, and defensive lineman Reed Snitker have all entered.

Snitker is the lone player to have reported offers via Twitter, as he has received scholarship offers from several Division II programs as well as Drake. Though Drake is Division I, they reside in the Pioneer League, which does not offer football scholarships.
