A Tornado Watch has been posted for portions of Iowa, including Black Hawk County.
The watch will expire at 8:00 PM.
This is the first Tornado Watch issued in December by the NWS-Des Moines since 2005.
The National Weather Service in Des Moines also posted that storms in central Nebraska and central Kansas are moving east-northeast 70-80 mph. Expected to be in the Des Moines Metro by around 5 PM tonight. Highly recommend getting home sooner or waiting it out at the office.
As of 2:30 PM, the strongest wind gust registered in the state was 56 MPH at the Lamoni Airport at 11:11 AM.
