This Might Be The Best Use For Your Pumpkin This Fall
Fall is the time for football, bonfires, changing leaves, Halloween...and EVERYTHING pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin Pop-Tarts, you get the idea.
Another huge seasonal trend is pumpkin-inspired alcohol. And what better way to your harvest hooch than inside of a pumpkin KEG? The fine folks at Thrillist are here to help.
Here's what you'll need:
• 1 medium to large pumpkin (about the size you'd use for a Jack O'Lantern)
• A pumpkin carving kit (or serrated knife and large spoon/scoop)
• A bowl to discard the seeds
• A pen
• A spigot
First, take a pen or marker and draw a circle around the top of the pumpkin. This will help you carve out a nice, clean incision to rip the top off--just make sure you cut the crown of the pumpkin at a bit of an angle to prevent the top from falling in.
Next, clean the pumpkin by removing the top and put it aside. Scoop out the pulp and discard the seeds.
Use your pen to outline the spigot. Take your serrated carving knife to cut a hole smaller than the spigot, then jam the spigot into the pumpkin and secure it to the inside.
Congratulations! You've officially created your very own pumpkin keg. Now fill up the gourd with the beverage(s) of choice and you're ready to party! Might I suggest THIS tasty concoction?
