Fire Damages Garage In Rural Black Hawk County

Fire that damaged a garage in rural Black Hawk County this week.

Gilbertville firefighters were called out to extinguish the blaze at a residence in the 4900 block of South Raymond Road -- or old Iowa Highway 297 -- north of the community on Wednesday (Oct. 24, 2018). When crews arrived around 7 PM, they found flames shooting up the rear wall of a detached garage.

According to a Facebook post, the fire caused significant damage to the back of the structure and rafters, but a majority of the contents inside were saved. No injuries were reported. The cause hasn't been released.
