How did I not know about this place?!

Earlier this week, I came across an article online from Love Food that names the best grilled cheese in all 50 states. I was obviously curious, since cheese is pretty much my favorite food, and that's how I learned about a place called Cheese Bar. I needed to know more.

Cheese Bar is a Des Moines restaurant that is also a sister company of The Cheese Shop of Des Moines. It apparently has the tastiest grilled cheese across the entire state of Iowa. The article reads:

"Everything about Cheese Bar is cheesy, in the best, ooziest, most delicious ways. The popular Des Moines spot is known for its mac ‘n’ cheese and raclette, but the grilled cheese – with rotating specials showcasing different local cheeses and complementary ingredients – is always pretty perfect too."

I checked out their Facebook page to see what kinds of special grilled cheeses they serve, and there are some very unique ones! In the past few weeks they've offered one with fried bologna, one with jalapeño pineapple sausage and slaw, and another with smoked ribs, BBQ pickles, and rhubarb BBQ sauce. Here are the photos:

In addition to grilled cheese specials, they offer other kinds on the regular menu, like Corned Beef Grilled Cheese, a Cuban Grilled Cheese, and a Classic Grilled Cheese. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE.

Looking through the online menu, I also discovered some fancy cast iron mac & cheeses, meat and cheese boards, fondue, and even raclette. If you don't know what that is, just watch this video:

If you REALLY want to torture yourself, look through some of the other foods on the Cheese Bar's Instagram HERE. I've been drooling for 15 minutes.

Cheese Bar is located at 2529 Ingersoll in Des Moines and they're open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can check out their website for more information HERE.
