Wisconsin Creamery was Just Nationally Recognized for their Cheese
A Wisconsin cheese company won some impressive awards last week at a nationwide competition. Cheese fans, if you've never tried the cheese from this company before, buy some when you see the label at the grocery store.
If you've spent any time in Wisconsin you've probably learned that the place to get delicious cheese is in Ellsworth, population: 3,333. It's a small town in western Wisconsin just over an hour from Rochester. There, you can find some amazing cheese at Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery.
I hadn't heard much about Ellsworth until a good friend from high school went to the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Because it's Wisconsin, she learned about all sorts of great cheeses in the state, one of those being the cheese in Ellsworth.
We stopped by the creamery one time and got some cheese curds. They were amazing! And ever since, I've noticed the Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery brand in a few stores.
So if you see them while you're out shopping and haven't tried them yet, grab a bag!
Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery Wins Big at National Cheese Competition
Back to the national competition that they were a part of, it's called the National Milk Producers Federation 2023 Cheese Contest. Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery took home 8 awards, according to Bring Me the News, one of those being one of the best cheeses in the entire competition.
First, they swept the Unique or Mild Flavor category with their Roasted Garlic and Tomato Basil Antonella getting 3rd, Garden Vegetable and Sweet Basil Antonella getting 2nd, and Pepperoni and Marinara Antonella getting 1st.
They also took 2nd place in the Natural Cheese category for their Colby Jack, 2nd place in the Processed American (Flavored) category for their Hot Pepper EZ Melt, and another 2nd place in the Hot or Spicy category for their Habanero Ghost Pepper Jack.
But that's not all! They also took home 1st place in the Natural Cheese Snack category for their Dill Pickle Cheese Curds.
And last but certainly not least, they took home 2nd place overall (it's called the Reserve Chairman Award) for their Pepperoni and Marinara Antonella.
