STATE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT – Don Bosco of Gilbertville

The Class 1A Boys State Baseball Championship will feature 5th-seeded Don Bosco of Gilbertville vs. 6th-seeded Mason City Newman on Saturday morning. The first pitch i scheduled for 10:30 from Principal Park in Des Moines.

Don Bosco began the state tournament last Friday by defeating South Winneshiek 3-1.

On Thursday, the Dons defeated Kingsley-Pierson 9-1 to reach the championship game, while Mason City Newman knocked off Remsen-St. Mary's 2-0 in 9 innings.

The Dons only state championship in baseball came in 1978.
