Sheriff Investigates Fatal Grundy County Accident

The Grundy County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal two vehicle accident.

The accident happened on Wednesday, August 24 at 8:35 p.m. on D-17 (130th Street) approximately 1.5 miles west of Hwy #14 or 4 miles southwest of Parkersburg.

According to the Sheriff's report,  an eastbound car crossed the centerline and was struck a westbound semi truck tractor. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi truck driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The name of the deceased driver is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

The accident remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting agencies included: Parkersburg Fire and Ambulance, Butler County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
