Police have arrested a suspect that they now believe is responsible for six murders and several shootings that happened during September and late October, according to WQAD.

Police officials have linked 25-year-old Perez Reed to two murders and one shooting in St. Louis and two murders in St. Louis County after he used the same gun to kill all his victims. Police identify that gun as a 40 caliber Smith and Wesson pistol. Police then connected Reed to two murders in a Kansas City high-rise apartment complex. WQAD reports those shootings took place in late October. The St. Louis County attorney's office had announced that they have filed two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree assault against Reed. St. Louis city attorneys say that they are continuing to work on the case and that charges are pending.

WQAD reports that most of the killer's victims were women, with some involved in sex work. Other victims were known to dress as women. But some of the victims didn't fit into any category, and the suspected killer's motives are still unknown. A court hearing for Reed is scheduled for December.

Reed has a criminal past, with his records showing a reckless driving charge in 2015 and an assault charge in 2019. Court records also show that his wife filed for divorce in July. WQAD reports that the case came together for police when they connected his cellphone to an Amtrak train ticket which showed him traveling from St. Louis to Kansas City on the days in question.
