Northeast Iowa Man Accused Of Threatening Sumner School
A northeast Iowa man is accused of threatening violence to a Sumner elementary school.
Authorities have arrested Ean Weipert, 26, of Colesburg, on felony charges of intimidation and threat of terrorism and a simple misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Officials said Weipert was arrested at his home on Tuesday.
According to Sumner police, administrators at Durant Elementary School called local authorities on Tuesday and reported receiving a phone call from an individual who threatened violence to the building and staff. Police said an investigation resulted in Weipert's arrest.
According to a press release, Sumner-Fredericksburg School District administrators worked with Sumner police to make sure students and staff were safe. Extra security was provided to Durant Elementary. A police officer or Bremer County sheriff's deputy remained in the building for the duration of the school day until Weipert's whereabouts were known.
