A northeast Iowa man has been arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting minors and could face more than five years in prison.

Following a two month investigation, Fayette County Sheriff's officials executed a search warrant for a possible sexual exploitation of a minor case. Local authorities were assisted by the Department of Public Safety-Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and the Department of Human Services.

Sheriff's officials said, during the search, authorities discovered that Shawn Kuhse, 36, of Wadena, was in possession of images that sexually exploited minors. The search warrant was executed on Wednesday, and officials seized evidence for the ICAC computer forensic examiner to analyse.

Kuhse was taken to the Fayette County Jail. He was booked on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia.

If convicted, Kuhse could be sentenced to over five years in prison and be placed on the state sex offender registry.

According to sheriff's officials, the case remains under investigation and more charges are pending.
