Marshalltown Man Arrested For Stealing Car In Waterloo
Authorities in Grundy County have arrested a man for a weekend car theft in Waterloo.
According to sheriff’s officials, 26-year-old Leonardo Sanchez of Marshalltown was taken into custody on a charge of possession of stolen property around 10 PM Saturday. Sanchez was taken to the Grundy County Jail in Grundy Center. His bond was set at $5,000.
Authorities said they received a report that a white Chevrolet Impala had been stolen from a Domino’s Pizza Restaurant in Waterloo earlier that evening and learned that the vehicle was in the area. Records show Sanchez was arrested after deputies initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of County Roads D-35 and T-19 about one-and-a-half miles south of Wellsburg.
The case remains under investigation. Grundy County authorities were assisted by Butler and Hardin County sheriff’s officials and the Iowa State Patrol.
