Fall is a fun time of the year...as the weather starts to cool off, it's time for sweatshirts, everything pumpkin, the leaves on trees start changing colors, and so much more. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Halloween is setting up to look a whole lot different this year.

Main Street Waterloo is busy planning some fun activities to bring people to downtown and celebrate the holiday. Erring on the side of caution, it doesn't look like downtown trick-or-treating will be able to happen this year. However, plenty of family fun activities are still in the planning stages.

Main Street Waterloo is asking businesses to decorate their windows, or make a creative window display. A "People's Choice" Winner will be awarded. Start thinking now, as windows need to be completed by Oct. 25th. Voting will be Oct. 26th at 9am through Oct. 31st at 9pm with the winner announced on Nov. 1st. Downtown businesses are also encouraged to run a Halloween-themed special or possibly invite customers to do an activity.

Any and all ideas are welcome from area business owners to make this "unique" fall season a success and help bring visitors to beautiful downtown Waterloo.
