Several area cities are celebrating America's 243rd birthday with fireworks displays and other activities this summer. Here is the list of 2019 community events, including information links.

Black Hawk County:

WATERLOO – Thursday, July 4, 2019 at approximately 9:30 PM
Site: Riverfront Stadium – 850 Park Road
Details: Fireworks follow Waterloo Bucks vs. Rochester Honkers, which begins at 6:35 PM. Gates open at 5:35 PM.

WATERLOO – Friday, July 5, 2019 at dark (approximately 9:30 PM)
Site: KOA Bamboo Ridge Campground – 4550 Hess Road
Details: The fireworks display is part of the holiday weekend, July 5-7.

CITY OF WATERLOO – Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 10 PM
Site: RiverLoop Amphitheatre & Expo Plaza – Downtown
Details: Main Street Waterloo presents the 3rd annual "Mayor's Independence Day Extravaganza" featuring music, food and fireworks on the bank of the Cedar River from 6 PM - Midnight. Musical entertainment includes Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony (6 PM) and Brazilian 2Wins (8 PM).

Bremer County:

FREDERIKA - Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Dusk
Site: East Side of Town
Details: Fireworks are part of "Frederika's Fourth Fest", which runs July 3-4 and July 6. The three-day festival also includes softball tournaments, a parade, fireman's dance, and live music.

Buchanan County:

INDEPENDENCE – Thursday, July 4, 2019 from 10 - 10:30 PM
Site: Near Downtown, Over The Wapsipinicon River
Details: Bring a chair or blanket to Riverwalk Parks to experience what organizers promote as one of the best fireworks shows in northeast Iowa! "Celebrate Our Independence" is a four-day event (July 3-4) that features concessions and musical entertainment, especially before the fireworks.

Butler County:

SHELL ROCK - Friday, July 5, 2019 at 10 PM
Site: Behind Shell Rock Elementary School - 214 N. Cherry St.
Details: The city-wide celebration runs June 29-30, July 3-6, 2019, and also features games, a 5K splash dash, a 4th of July parade, kiddie parade, live music, laser tag, and garage sales at a variety of sites.

Clayton County:

GARNAVILLO - Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Dusk
Site: Garnavillo City Park - U.S. Highway 52 (N. Main Street)
Details: The 47th annual celebration has several other events, including an ice cream social and teddy bear parade on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, and a 5K walk/run, live music, parade, demonstrations, food, games and contests on Thursday, July 4 before the fireworks. This year's theme: "There's No Place Like Home".

GUTTENBERG - Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Dusk
Site: Guttenberg Riverfront, Over The Mississippi River / Viewing: 400-800 blocks of South River Park Dr.
Details: The "Stars & Stripes Celebration" along South River Park Dr. includes a 5K walk/run; Farmer's Market, food vendors and beverage garden; music, games, and parade. This year's theme: "Rock'n Our Freedom".

MARQUETTE - Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Dusk
Site: Marquette Riverfront, Over The Mississippi River
Details: Celebrate the 4th of July alongside the Mississippi River in a classic, small-town celebration full of pride and joy. The city-wide celebration runs July 4-7, 2019 and also includes a parade, live music, and flea market.

DYERSVILLE - Wednesday, July 3 2019 at Dusk
Site: Commercial Club Park - 2nd Ave. SE
Details: Carnival rides, kids games and music are all part of the celebration.

EARLVILLE - Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Dusk
Site: Little League Diamond - Prospect St. & W. South Side Road.
Details: Activities will be held all day on July 4th, starting with a 5K fun run/walk at 9 AM. Other events include a bean bag tournament, cutest baby contest, car/motorcycle show, parade, music, food and other various activities.

Site: West Union Recreation Center - North Pine St.
Details: Celebrate the 4th of July with a variety of activities that are fun for the entire family.

CHARLES CITY – Thursday, July 4, 2019 at 10 PM
Site: Downtown
Details: The 4th of July Celebration runs July 3-7, 2019, and also features a variety of activities for both children and adults at many different sites. Among the planned events are a parade; music and entertainment; 5K/mile runs; and kids parade. This year's theme: "Independence Day The CC Way!"

REINBECK - Thursday, July 4, 2019 at 10 PM
Site: Elmwood Park - Iowa Highway 175 & South Hawkeye Road (V. Ave.), West End of Town
Details: The city's 4th of July festival includes a variety of events at different locations, starting with a grand parade at 1:30 PM. There will also be a group sky lantern launch after fireworks.

DYSART - Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Dusk 
Site: City Park - 602 Sherman St.
Details: The city's celebration is July 3-4, 2019, and includes a kiddie parade and live music on Wednesday. Thursday's events include a 5K Run/Walk at 8 AM and the Grand Parade at 10:30 AM, followed by fun in the park with live music, rides and games before the fireworks show.

Site: Green Mountain-Garwin High School Football Field - 4th St.
Details: The city's celebration is July 3-4, 2019, and includes a slow pitch softball tournament, dance, 5K Run/Walk, parade, egg toss, free throw contest, and a talent show.

Site: Riverside Park and Inwood Ballroom - 116 Bridge St. (Iowa Highway 325)
Details: Organizers promote this fireworks display as the largest in northeast Iowa. Several other events are planned for the day, including music and games. Admission to the park is $3 per person, $5 per vehicle.
