Happy Halloween! As I've grown older, I've started to become a bigger fan of trick or treating being held on the final  Saturday in October. I think that's a movement that should continue to grow. Halloween day can remain on the 31st but I think we should move the trick-or-treating to the last Saturday of the month. I think that would make things so much easier for parents and it would be more fun for the kids.

They can wear their costumes around the house all day, they can stay up a little bit later, and they can sleep in a little bit on Sunday. That conversation is probably for a different day. Tonight, your kids will hopefully be stomping through their neighborhoods collecting bags/buckets/pillowcases full of candy.

In 2023, every parent knows they should check the candy that their child brings home from trick-or-treating. It's pretty sad that it's something you need to do but that's the world we live in. Candy is a fun part of the spooky season and you generally don't have to worry about what your child brings home. If you have a young kid, you might want to hide any of the harder candies you find or better yet...eat them for yourself! I'm pretty sure that's called the "parent tax."
