More help is on the way for the 2020 Iowa Hawkeyes football team, this time on the defensive side of the ball.

According to a Friday afternoon release from the University of Iowa Sports Information Department, former Northern Illinois defensive lineman Jack Heflin is headed to the Hawks. Heflin is pictured above forcing a fumble in last year's Northern Illinois game against Nebraska.

Heflin, a graduate transfer, has signed a letter of intent to play for Iowa this fall. It will be his only season of eligibility. The news doesn't come as a big surprise. Heflin announced his intentions to play for the Hawkeyes on Twitter two weeks ago:

Heflin, 6-foot-4 and 319 pounds, was named honorable mention All-America by Pro Football Focus last season for the Huskies. The team's coaching staff named him Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a permanent team captain. Look for him to step in and see a lot of snaps for Iowa this fall.

Jack Heflin is the second graduate transfer to come to Iowa City for the 2020 season. The other is Coy Cronk, who played left tackle at Indiana. He was injured in the fourth game of the 2019 season and missed the rest of the year.

Below is the scene when Cronk was injured in Indiana's game against Connecticut last season. The entire team came onto the field, which tells you everything you need to know about the way his teammates felt about him.

Cronk was on the pre-season watch list for the Outland Trophy last year. The award is given to the nation's best interior lineman.

During the 2017 and 2018 seasons combined, Cronk started 23 games for the Hoosiers.

Look for Heflin and Cronk to be important pieces of the 2020 Iowa Hawkeyes.
