Google Street View Car Spotted In Clear Lake
Who hasn't been so bored that they've just zoomed in on random places on Google Maps. I can't be the only one who used to do this all of the time. Maybe you've looked up your childhood home or even your old office. Well, no matter what you looked up, someone needed to be there to take the picture, right?
The person...or the thing that takes the pictures that you see on Google Maps is the Google Street View car. It drives around the country periodically taking pictures for the street view setting of the map feature.
The month of June saw this vehicle make its way through Iowa. Recently it's been spotted in Clear Lake, according to local Jeff Robak. He spotted the vehicle earlier in the week, and according to other witnesses it has also been spotted in Forest City.
Several other people said they spot it close to Waterloo in the past month. While we can not concretely confirm the whereabouts of the vehicle from these claims, I did find a website that documents eyewitness accounts of the vehicle. It's aptly named "Where is the Google car?"
This is more of a blog where people can post sightings of the vehicle. It is not from actual Google officials.
What a drive, am I right? It's not one car driving around to all of these places.
But if it was, can you imagine the miles on that vehicle?
Also these sightings only include the ones over the past few months in North America.
According to local eyewitness accounts, the vehicle (or vehicles) has been making its way across Iowa in June.
