Entertainment Line-up Announced For 2021 Iowa Irish Fest
Iowa Irish Fest has become one of the most renowned Celtic festivals in the nation, each summer drawing an estimated 50,000 visitors from the Midwest and around the world to downtown Waterloo.
While the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancelation of last year's event, organizers are making plans to bring the festival back in less than five months. They announced Tuesday that the 2021 edition of Iowa Irish Fest will be held Aug. 6-8 in newly renovated Lincoln Park and the surrounding area.
On Wednesday, organizers celebrated St. Patrick's Day by announcing the main entertainment. The 14th annual event will feature 13 artists, including four that are new to the festival line-up.
Bands returning to Waterloo for the 2021 festival are: Gaelic Storm, Scythian, Young Dubliners, Screaming Orphans, Sean McGuinness and the Dublin City Ramblers, Colm Keegan, Blame Not the Bard and Ian Gould. The new bands include: Téada, Doolin’, Aoife Scott and Brother Crowe. The Trinity Irish Dancers are also scheduled to be on stage all three days of the festival. Also appearing: the Cedar Glen Pipes & Drums, and local fiddlers Cara Lockard and Sammie Kruger.
