Sunday afternoon at Furnace Creek in Death Valley the temperature reached 130*. If validated, it would be the one of the hottest temperatures EVER recorded on Earth.

The only two higher temperatures ever recorded on Earth were 134* in Death Valley in 1913 and 131* in Tunisia in 1931 --- although both of those records have been disputed.

Regardless, this would be the hottest temperature ever recorded anywhere in the month of August. (the other two 'disputed' records occurred in July).

The 'LOW' temp this morning at Furnace Creek was a chilly 98*. Today's forecast calls for a high of 129*.
