Start Times Set For UNI’s 2018 Home Football Games

Athletic officials at UNI have announced start times for the Panthers' 2018 home football games. Three of the five gridiron battles will kick-off at 4 PM, and the other two are scheduled for 1 PM at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.

UNI's home opener against the Hampton Pirates on Sept. 22 will start at 4 PM. The Hall of Fame day match-up will feature the induction of six individuals and a team prior to the game in a morning ceremony at the McLeod Center. All inductees will be honored at halftime of the football game.

The Panthers will host a Missouri Valley Football Conference showdown against six-time national champion North Dakota State on Oct. 6 at 1 PM. The Bison have won all but one of the last seven FCS titles. In recent years, UNI has beaten the Bison three times at home -- in 2008, 2010 and 2014.

Homecoming will take place Oct. 20, when the Panthers face South Dakota State at 4 PM. UNI owns a 6-5 record in the series since the Jackrabbits joined the Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2008. In 2017, the teams met twice in Brookings, S.D., where the Panthers post a 38-18 regular-seaonsory in the regular season.

The Family Weekend game falls on Nov. 3, when Illinois State comes to the UNI-Dome for a 1 PM game. The Panthers and Redbirds have not played since the 2015 season. UNI owns a 12-3 record against Illinois State in games played in the UNI-Dome.

The Panthers will cap the regular season with their annual Senior Day game on Nov. 17 at 4 PM. The opponent is Missouri State, which has dropped 12-straight contests to UNI. The Panthers also have defeated the Bears in 18 of the last 19 meetings. UNI holds a 16-2 advantage over Missouri State in games played in the UNI-Dome.

UNI earned a top-20 preseason ranking. Three of the first four home games will be top-20 matchups with North Dakota state ranked No. 1, South Dakota State at No. 4 and Illinois State at No. 14.
