The Waterloo Bucks opened a two-game home series against St. Cloud with a decisive victory Thursday night.

The Bucks defeated the Rox 12-4 at Riverfront Stadium. Three games into the 2019 Northwoods League season, Waterloo (3-0) is one of the two teams co-leading the Great Plains East Division.

Greg Anderberg had a productive night for the Bucks, batting ninth in the order. The Ankeny native went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and five runs batted in.

Waterloo stayed patient at the plate throughout the game. The Bucks drew 11 walks and created five multi-run innings.

Cole Brooks joined Anderberg with a three-hit night of his own, scoring three times and stealing a base. In his Bucks debut, Blake Berry banged a two-run double off the top edge of the centerfield wall.

Alec Holcomb threw well in his first start of the season; allowing a pair of unearned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out four across 3.0 innings. Dylan Phillips (1-0) earned the victory in his inaugural Waterloo outing, pitching two innings of two-hit baseball. Following a scoreless frame tossed by Tyler Miller, Austin VanDeWiele (1) covered the final three in picking up the save.

The Bucks and the Rox conclude their two-game set at 6:35 PM on Friday in Waterloo.
