Black Hawk, Bremer Counties Hosting COVID Vaccine Clinics
The Black Hawk and Bremer County health departments are both hosting COVID-19 vaccination clinics this week.
In Bremer County, a Moderna vaccine clinic is scheduled for Tuesday from 9 to 11:15 AM at the Bremer County Fairgrounds in Waverly. The second dose will be given on May 19 at the same time and location. Residents can schedule an appointment by CLICKING THIS LINK.
In Black Hawk County, the Pfizer vaccine will be administered for persons 16 and older at the National Cattle Congress Fairgrounds in Waterloo. The event will be held at the Hippodrome (formerly McElroy Auditorium), 257 Ansborough Ave, on Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 4 PM.
Local health officials said walk-in are welcome, but they may not get a shot. To guarantee a vaccine residents should schedule an appointment with Black Hawk County Health Department, either online or by phone at 319-292-2360.
The state's COVID-19 vaccine dashboard Tuesday morning showed that almost two million (1,989,825) total doses have been administered to Iowa residents and nearly 900,000 (886,340) individuals had completed the series. In Black Hawk County, 37,497 residents have been fully vaccinated.
Iowa public health officials confirmed 549 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday morning, increasing the state-wide total to 360,683. They also reported five additional virus-related deaths, raising the death toll in Iowa to 5,886.
