A Kansas woman bought her first lottery ticket four days after her 18th birthday, and somehow picked a winner.

Sloan Stanley, 18, told the Kansas Lottery office that she was at Country Harvest Apple Market decided to buy a $5 Cash Cow scratcher.

"I bought the Cash Cow ticket because I like cows and thought it was cute," Stanley said.

That ticket was a $25,000 winner.

"I was in shock that the first ticket I ever bought ended up winning $25,000," Stanley said. "My family is all super excited and happy for me, and they still can't believe it."

Her dad was skeptical of the win until he saw the ticket himself.

Stanley says the money will come in handy this fall when she starts classes at Fort Hays State University.

"I'm excited to start college later this year and I hope this will help me graduate without debt," she said.
