Your Phone Knows When You’re Drunk by How You Walk
It turns out Siri might be able to tell you when you've had enough to drink, based off how you walk the drunker you get.
A study published in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs found smartphones are able to determine when a human is drunk solely based off changes to their gait.
In the study, researches had 22 adults drink a vodka cocktail within 60 minutes, then strapped their phone to their lower back with an elastic band and had them walk 20 steps.
About 90% of the time, the researchers were able to tell from the phone's analysis if the person's BAC was .08 or higher.
The underutilized function of the phone could help people reduce overall alcohol consumption, allow sponsors to monitor alcoholics' habits and help prevent people from drinking and driving.
