The website Stacker has put out a list of the best counties in Iowa to retire. While many, even most of the top counties on the list are in Eastern or Central Iowa, the top spot actually goes to a western Iowa county.

These metrics include a good for retirees grade, a cost of living grade, a weather grade, and an outdoor activities grade.

The results? You can see the top 25 counties in Iowa to retire in below. But the number one county on the list is kind of a surprise.

Home of Spirit Lake, Milford, and Arnolds Park, the top county to retire in is Dickinson County. Dickinson is in pretty far northwestern Iowa.
