What Heating and Cooling Experts Say You Need To Do This Week!
That sigh of relief you hear is from me knowing that I might not have to turn my air conditioning back on this year. Crisp fall temperatures are now upon us. If your house is anything like mine, your windows are open and the cool fall breezes are reminding you of why we all love this time of year. But don't get too lost in enjoying the cool down that you forget what season comes next. In fact, HVAC experts suggest that you do something right away so you don't get burnt when winter rolls around.
I was scrolling through my Facebook feed today and saw a friend who works for a local heating and cooling company. They suggested that you go ahead and fire up your furnace this week. That way, if something is wrong, and it doesn't start you have time to get it fixed before things really start to get cold. The folks at Hamco Heating say that the last week of September or the first week of October is usually a prime time to test your furnace, as temperatures usually will dip below 64 degrees at some point during the day or night.
Hamco also recommends that this is also the time of year to make sure your thermostat is working properly and to change your furnace filter as well. No one wants to think ahead to the cold and snow and those high heating bills. But don't wait until the last minute to make sure your furnace is up to the task! This is the week. Fire it up!
