Students attending Waterloo public schools next year will be spending more time in the classroom each day, under a schedule change approved by the Board of Education this week.

Beginning with the 2018-19 academic year, schools in the Waterloo District will be operating on the following daily schedule:

  • Elementary (except Cunningham): 8:45 AM - 3:45 PM
  • Middle/High School & Cunningham: 7:45 AM - 2:45 PM
  • Preschool (Elk Run/PreK in district):  9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

According to district officials, the change includes a 15-minute daily increase in instructional time for PreK through fifth-grade students. The school board approved a 10-minute daily increase for middle and high school students.
