Waterloo Non-Profit Agency Director Accused Of Embezzlement

The director of a Waterloo non-profit agency is being accused of embezzlement.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into the possible misappropriation of funds at the Jesse Cosby Neighborhood Center, 1112 Mobile St. Jesse Henderson, the facility's director, is the focus of the probe, DCI officials confirmed.
No charges have been filed in connection with investigation. Authorities have not released any information on how much money Henderson allegedly misused.
According to a news release, Iowa DCI officials received information alleging the misuse of Jesse Cosby Center money earlier this year. The state agency launched an investigation and officials said they identified additional information substantiating the allegations.
Iowa Department of Public Safety officers and troopers with the Iowa State Patrol executed a search warrant at the center on July 13.
The Jesse Cosby Neighborhood Center and its program partners provide many valuable services to the Waterloo community and surrounding area. Founded in 1966, the center has been a multicultural, multigenerational service provider for individuals and families throughout Black Hawk County for more than 50 years.
The center offers a variety of activities for seniors, has Meals on Wheels and a youth summer feeding program, in addition to an adult day center.
The facility also provides educational support and summer employment for area teenagers. The Jesse Cosby Neighborhood Center also helps low-income households in crisis and provides services for people who are disabled, homeless, sick or shut-in.
The investigation into the alleged embezzlement is active and ongoing, Iowa DCI officials said.
