Winter Storms In Iowa Are Cold. Very Cold

As we all know, a massive winter storm ripped through Iowa and into Illinois this week as we head into Christmas weekend. More than 3 inches of snow has been reported in most spots in Iowa where the storm hit, but the snow isn't the main problem with this system.

As KWQC-TV6 meteorologist Kevin Phelps told us, it's the extremely cold wind chills and the extreme wind gusts that make this storm even nastier.

Covering bitter cold temps, winds, and snow can be a challenge especially when you have to do it outside instead in the comfort of a studio but some meteorologists and reporters head into the elements for some reason to give people an "idea" of what things are like.

Mark Woodley of KWWL has instantly gone viral after tracking the blizzard move through the Cedar Valley in Iowa which consists of the cities of Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Waverly, and other smaller towns.

KWWL, mainly located in Waterloo, covers the Cedar Valley, the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area, and all the way to Dubuque.

The TODAY Show, Insider, People Magazine, and other national websites and news organizations have picked Woodley's comments that may sound petty and snarky to some, but what we would all be feeling if we were in the same boat as Mark.

Some of our favorite lines from Mark's reporting include:

"The same way I felt about 8 minutes ago when you ask me 8 minutes ago..."

"What better time to ask the sports guy to come in about 5 hours earlier than he wouldnormally wake up, stand out in the wind and the snow and the cold, and tell others not to do the same thing."

"I didn't even realize there was a 3:30 in the morning until today."

"Tune in for the next couple of hours to watch me get progressively get crankier and crankier."

"Well, I'll tell you what Ryan. I've got good news and I've got bad news. The good news is that I can still feel my face right now. The bad news is I kind of wish I couldn't."
